Is Lorde Selling Out By Going Shopping With Taylor Swift?

Taylor Swift might be BFFs with everyone, but it looks like her friendship with You Oughta Know artist Lorde is going the strongest. This weekend, Taylor posted a delightful photo of the two pop stars cavorting on the beach on Instagram with the caption, "Bare feet in the sand on Saturday..." and yesterday, the two were snapped by photographers shopping at trendy stores like Free People and Rag & Bone in Brentwood, California. It looks like the two have come a long way since Lorde told reporters that she thought Swift was a bad role model because she was "too flawless and unattainable." Now, it looks like it won't be long until we see snapshots of them braiding each other's hair--or maybe collaborating on a duet?
It was first rumored that Lorde and Taylor were becoming chummy last fall, but their friendship wasn't confirmed until Taylor posted some photos of her 24th birthday party on Instagram--and Lorde was conspicuously one of the guests. Later, the two were seen giggling and hugging each other at a pre-GRAMMY Awards event and later at the GRAMMYS themselves.

It comes as no surprise that Taylor Swift would want to befriend Lorde. Swift is kind of a pop culture Queen Bee. She befriends movie stars like Emma Stone, fellow pop stars like Selena Gomez, supermodels and up-and-coming teen stars. However, Lorde shot to fame as the teen underdog. Her song "Royals" famously takes a shot at Swift's world of wealth, excess and popularity. So, is Lorde selling out?
Maybe...but maybe not. After all, she is a still only a teen and teens do go shopping. It's not like Lorde is wearing high-end Chanel (like Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry are wont to do); she and Swifty were combing through the sale rack! (Get those savings!)
Still, we can't help but feel that Lorde isn't the girl who had "never seen a diamond in the flesh" anymore.
