Richard Monroe vs. Snoop Dogg (2006)

After being invited on stage with Snoop Dogg, Monroe made the mistake of putting his arm around the famous rapper. He sued Snoop Dogg and Game for assault, battery, negligence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Artists are always saying that they owe everything to their fans, and in many ways it’s totally true. Were it not for a dedicated army of admirers to buy their music and fill up concert seats, these house hold names would still just be singing in the shower! The fans make it happen, and when you anger them…look out, because all hell breaks loose. Just ask these unfortunate musicians!

There have been a number of cases where fans have turned on their (ex)idols, slapping them in the face with a lawsuit (or two). Sometimes it has to do with concert injuries (looking at you, Miguel), other times it’s for out-of-concert injuries, and occasionally it’s for straight up wasting the audience’s time. In any event, the result is rarely pretty, and scorned fans sometimes go for a massive chunk of change (think BILLIONS).

From pop titans like Justin BieberRihanna, and Miley Cyrus, to classic rockers like Bon Jovi and Axl Rose, many stars have been in this awkward position. Pleasing everyone is hard, man! Head up to the gallery above for more examples of big time musicians who were sued by their own fans.
