Meet CHVRCHES: April's You Oughta Know Artist

Over the past year, Scottish band CHVRCHES have been wooing us with their enchanting blend of synth pop, alternative rock and poetic lyrics and now they are VH1's April You Oughta Know artist. Get ready, because you're not just going to get to know CHVRCHES; you're about to become the band's biggest fans.

CHVRCHES was formed when electro-pop musicians Iain Cook and Martin Doherty asked singer and music journalist Lauren Mayberry to collaborate with them on demos. The three Glaswegians had each experienced some cult success, but when they combined forces, the result was electric.  Buzz for their songs snagged them a gig on Passion Pit's 2012 tour and two years later they're VH1's latest You Oughta Know Artist.

The band's name, which is pronounced "churches," was picked for especially trendy reasons. Namely, the "v" differentiates them in SEO searches. Last September, they released their debut album, The Bones Of What You Believe, which quickly shot to the top of many "Best of 2013" critics and fan lists--including those of VH1's own staff.

For a sampling of their sound, you can watch the music video for their hit single, "The Mother We Share," below. Check back with VH1 throughout the month for more on CHVRCHES, including exclusive interviews, music clips and content. Be sure to check out chvrches.vh1.com for more information.
