First Dibs: Solange Finally Addresses the Infamous Elevator Incident

How much did Angie Martinez’s salary increase once she moved over to Power 105? Kanye West released 20 new songs at a club in London and get our first exclusive preview of MisterWives “Vagabond.”

  • In the August Lucky Magazine cover story, Solange Knowles dishes about her childhood, music and the infamous elevator incident at the Met Gala. She addressed the elevator situation by calling it “that thing” and said, “What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that.” Then she shut the questions down and moved the conversation over to talking about her family. Clearly, Solange would like to keep that event buried in the past. [Lucky]
  • How much money would it take to get the legendary Angie Martinez to leave Hot 97? Try a high six figure salary, basically double what she was making prior to the separation. Though Martinez explained that she made her decision based on wanting to tackle new challenges, we think the pay bump served as more than just a perk. [Page Six]
  • In true Kanye West fashion, West dropped a bomb on club-goers in London over the weekend by releasing 20 new songs during a private party at London’s Cafe Royal Hotel. There were no recordings of the new tracks because of a strict no-phone policy at the club but people described the songs as “dark” and “hellish.” We’re hoping that these songs will get released as part of a new album from West but there’s really no telling what Ye has in store for us. • We have the exclusive first preview of MisterWives’ “Vagabond,” the official theme song for Finding Carter, which premieres TOMORROW [July 8th] and airs on Tuesdays at 10pm. We’ll definitely be watching but the real question is: will you?! [MTV]
