Every Reason Why This Fall Is Going To Be Amazing For Music

This fall marks music’s most anticipated season so far, thanks to the release of multiple long-awaited albums. Prince will drop not one but TWO new albums, Lil Wayne will finally unleash The Carter V, Charli XCX will emerge from the sidelines with Sucker, and The Pinkprint from Nicki Minaj will without a doubt come with more fire than any other previous album. Packed into a mere three months, fall music is about to dominate so clear out your playlists and get ready to load up on all new material!

Expect a lot of your favorite artists try to reinvent themselves this September. Julian Casablancas, frontman for The Strokes, has stepped away from the band for a bit to pursue his side project called Julian Casablancas + The Voidz. Their upcoming album Tyranny has a September 23rd release and their first single “Human Sadness” is 11 minutes long, so strap on your headphones and enjoy the ride. Lady Gaga will put pop off to the side to dive into the world of jazz with Tony Bennett. Look out for their duet album Cheek to Cheek out on the 23rd as well and even a possible tour announcement.

On Setember 30th, Prince is making his return after five years with two new albums. One solo LP called Art Official Age and one with his band 3rdEyeGirl called Plectrumelectrum. Our former You Ought Know artist Tove Lo will also join Prince on the same date to debut her first album Queen of the Clouds.

Music giants have claimed October as their month. Broadway’s one and only Idina Menzel is one step ahead of the game with a Christmas album called Holiday Wishes on lock for October 14. P!nk has taken to folk music and it really suits her well. Say hello to You + Me, a new duo consisting of our favorite flying pop star and City and Colour’s Dallas Green. The two have a folk album called Rose Ave out on the 14th as well.

T.I. has very special plans for his latest album Paperwork: The Motion Picture. According to HHDX, the album has been narrowed down from 250 to 25 songs, production will come from Pharrell Williams, and three short stories taken from the album will be turned into a movie. The King of the South is definitely trying to expand his craft beyond just music and it’ll be interesting to see who he casts in his film. Summer breakout star Charli XCX will unveil her rock pop album Sucker that has a lot to live up to since her monstrous success on Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” and Ariana Grande’s “Problem.” Both Paperwork and Sucker are out October 21. October 27 will be Taylor Swift day as she unloads 1989 to her army of Swifties and Lil Wayne’s The Carter V will finally surface after a long back and forth between official release dates.
