The third annual Global Citizen Festival took place yesterday (September 27) on the Great Lawn of New York’s Central Park. Huge headliners such as Tiesto, Jay Z, Beyonce and No Doubt brought out a massive crowd that danced the night away for a good cause. Even President Barack Obama made an appearance (via pre-recorded video) to spread awareness on how to fight global poverty and prevent epidemics like ebola and HIV.

Though the issues were addressed in a serious manner, the energy of the arena skyrocketed once musical surprise after surprise began to unfold. Jay Z brought out surprise guest Beyonce to perform “Holy Grail” and “Forever Young,” Carrie Underwood gave a stunning performance of R.E.M.’s “Everybody hurts” while showing off her baby bump and Sting joined No Doubt┬áto sing their cover of The Police’s “Message In A Bottle.” For more highlights from Alicia Keys, Fun and Tiesto, click through the gallery above.

Speaking of Fun, watch as Jack Antonoff stopped by our studios to perform “I Wanna Get Better.”
