Eddie Murphy's Reggae Track "Oh Jah Jah" Deserves Way More Attention

Eddie Murphy made his debut on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Party All The Time" back in 1985. Now, the comedian is making reggae music, and unlike his '85 hit, this one is flying way below the radar.

Murphy's latest track, "Oh Jah Jah," isn't the first reggae one he's made. He released a reggae track called "Red Light" feat. Snoop Lion in 2013.

Murphy hasn't stopped making music for the past 25 years, according to his interview with Roland Martin of NewsOne Now yesterday.

"I've always done music," Murphy told Martin. "I've played guitar, piano and I write and produce and I was coming at music that way because I didn't want to get thrown in a barrel with everybody else. ... I never ever left it alone, I just stopped letting y'all hear it."

Welp, he's letting us hear it now. And we're glad, because both of these tracks are surprisingly good. It seems like Eddie Murphy has proved us wrong by blossoming into a celebrity who can both sing and act.

"Oh Jah Jah" might be a part of the album Murphy teased on Twitter almost a year ago.

If this is a taste of what's to come, we can't say we hate it. "Oh Jah Jah" is up on iTunes as of Tuesday. Buy it here, and tell us what you think of the track in the comments section.
