Sam Smith Takes A Stand In New Video For “Lay Me Down”

-By Renaud Jean Baptiste Jr.

Sam Smith has just unveiled somber but powerful visuals for “Lay Me Down,” the latest single off his massively successful debut album In The Lonely Hour.

Smith took to both Instagram and Twitter to not only reveal the video, but also to make a statement. The clip was accompanied with these words posted by the man himself:

"Dear all, the Lay Me Down music video holds a very dear place in my heart. With this video myself and Ryan Hope the director have decided to make a statement and showcase something we passionately believe in. This video shows my dreams that one day gay men and women and transgendered men and women all over the world, like all our straight families and friends, will be able to get married under any roof, in any city, in any town, in any village, in any country. I hope you all enjoy it. I love you all x"

The timing of this release couldn't be any better since we’re merely days away from “Music’s Biggest Night,” the Grammys, where the You Oughta Know alum holds an impressive six nominations, which includes album of the year. All eyes will surely be on Mr. Smith Sunday night, but until then definitely set your eyes on his new video.
