Here Are The 8 Music Festivals You Should Be Paying Attention To This Season

Festival season has arrived, ladies and gentleman. Get ready for Paul McCartney at Lollapalooza, Drake at Governors Ball, and PERMANENT BATHROOMS at Coachella! No, really. There will be actual bathrooms at Coachella this year. In other news, AC/DC is headlining.

We’ve put together a list of eight music festivals you should be paying attention to this season, including Governors Ball, Sweetlife, and Newport Folk. Coachella


When: April 10-12, 2015 and April 17-19, 2015
Where: Indio, CA
Who’s playing: AC/DC, Jack White, Drake, Alabama Shakes, Azealia Banks, FKA twigs, The Weeknd, Hozier, Florence + The Machine
Why go? Genre-variety. There’s something for everyone at Coachella.

Hangout


When: May 15 – 17, 2015
Where: Gulf Shores, AL
Who’s playing: Foo Fighters, Sam Smith, Zac Brown Band, Beck, Skrillex, Foster The People, Paramore, Tove Lo
Why go? Hangout Music Festival is set right on the beach. Sand, sun, and sound — it’s a music oasis.

Sweetlife


When: May 30 – 31, 2015
Where: Columbia, MD
Who’s playing: Kendrick Lamar, Calvin Harris, Banks, The Weeknd, Charli XCX, Phantogram, Bleachers, Tove Lo, Marina & The Diamonds, Vance Joy
Why go? Sweetlife Festival is backed by sweetgreen, the culinary lifestyle brand that promotes smartly-sourced, season food. If music and food get your passions rolling, this is your scene.

Governors Ball


When: June 5 – 7, 2015
Where: Randall’s Island Park, NYC
Who’s playing: Drake, Florence + The Machine, Deadmau5, Bjork, The Black Keys, Lana Del Rey
Why go? A nice alternative to those who can’t make it out to Coachella, Governors Ball offers a similar lineup.

Northside Festival and Brooklyn Live


When: June 8 – 14, 2015
Where: Brooklyn, NY
Who’s playing: Sleigh Bells, Vince Staples, Zola Jesus, Frankie Cosmos, Ex Hex, Rhye, Run the Jewels
Why go? This year will be the first for Brooklyn Live, a new outdoor concert series set in Williamsburg. Brooklyn Live will feature indie rock, deep house, and hip-hop performances.

Bonnaroo


When: June 11 – June 14, 2015
Where: Manchester, TN
Who’s playing: Billy Joel, Mumford & Sons, Deadmau5, Kendrick Lamar, Florence + The Machine, Childish Gambino, Hozier
Why go? Bonnaroo features a Comedy Theatre with acts such as Chris Hardwick, Reggie Watts, Jeff Ross, and more.

Newport Folk Festival


When: July 24 – July 26, 2015
Where: Newport, RI
Who’s playing: Iron & Wine and Ben Bridwell, Brandi Carlile, First Aid Kit, The Lone Bellow, Courtney Barnett, Lord Huron
Why go? A well of good music, Newport Folk Festival blends established acts with undiscovered ones.

Lollapalooza
