If you watch Grey’s Anatomy, you haven’t seen much Patrick Dempsey lately. Not since his character, Dr. Derek Shepherd, the famous “McDreamy,” got sent off to DC for a new job with only brief returns to Seattle Grace. And reportedly, there’s a good reason for that, and not just in terms of plot. It’s because McDreamy is kind of a McDouche.
At least that’s what Page Six is saying. According to their source, “Patrick has been acting like a diva and has clashed with Shonda [Rhimes]. She suspended him for a while, and the word on set is that he isn’t coming back full time.”
Back in November when his storyline changed, Dempsey said he’s ready for his next non-Grey’s step, calling his job on the show “transitional.” While it’s no “I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention,” that’s still pretty cold. That month he also told Portland Press Herald his exit from the show would happen “very soon.” His rep of course denies any rumors of diva-ry.
If you’re going to be an assh-le, the Grey’s set is not the place. Isaiah Washington, Katherine Heigl — there is history of people acting like d-bags and getting canned for it. But has he always been a diva, or is this new behavior in light of his recent split from his wife?
