Ain’t nobody smoother than Denzel Washington! The 58-year-old actor and two-time Academy Award winner is making his umpteenth (we counted!) trip to the Oscars this weekend, where he’s nominated for Best Actor for his harrowing work in Flight. What better time, we thought, to take a look at Denzel’s dapper duds over the years?
Denzel made his first trip to the Academy Awards waaaaaaay back in 1988, when he scored a nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his work in Cry Freedom. He walked away empty-handed that night, but managed to score himself an Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 1990 for his unforgettable role in Glory. His nod this year for Flight marks his fourth nomination as Best Actor, an award he took home back in 2002 for Training Day. As Denzel’s character in that film would likely say, King Kong ain’t got nuthin’ on him as either an actor OR as one of the few male style icons of his generation, so won’t you take a look back with us as we recount his Awards Show Style over the years?
