6 Reasons Why Jennifer Lawrence Is Winning

UPDATE (2/24/13 at 11:48 p.m.): Good news! Jennifer Lawrence did NOT lose, after all; she took home the Academy Award for Best Actress tonight for her awesome performing in Silver Linings Playbook. She did, however, trip on her way up the steps to accept the award. Yet another reason —our Sixth, in fact!— to love and root for our girl, J-LAW!

Jennifer Lawrence may be slowly slipping into second place behind Emmanuelle Riva in the Best Actress Oscar race, but she remains solidly on-top in our books for reasons that go far beyond her amazing work on-screen. Despite all the hoopla surrounding her, from the indie accolades to the blockbuster bank, she is decidedly unfazed by it all. She doesn't pal around with other celebs in her down time and she has yet to succumb to the unrelenting and unrealistic pressure of the Hollywood Actresses Must B Skin n' Bones machine. She likes her mom. She is...normal. And that, more than anything, is the most extraordinary thing about her.

In case you're not convinced, here are 5 Reasons Why Jennifer Lawrence Is Winning, Even If She Loses On Oscar Night. We may not have a statue to hand out, but we give the girl soem serious props, which have got to be worth something, right?

1. She is cool with her body.

Jennifer has spoken out numerous times about body image and the pressures of Hollywood, and even called it a "distracting, dark cloud" in a recent Today Show interview.

2. She loves her family. Like, a lot.

Yes, this was everyone's favorite photo back in 2011, when she was nominated for her first Oscar for Winter's Bone and celebrated with her family (and ex-boyfriend Nick Hoult) while wearing mom-jamas. But she seems to genuinely be into her parents, as exhibited in this interview after winning a SAG Award, in which her dad compares her to a horse, her mom cries with pride, and Jen hides her face in adorable, genuine embarrassment. (We cried watching this, guys - it's that sweet.)

3. She's really funny. Like, how you and your friends are funny. Like... an actual human.

While accepting her People's Choice Award, she somehow manages to come across as genuine and humble while simultaneous joking about sweating all over Robert Downey Jr. and making a Mean Girls reference.

And then she got drunk on Jimmy Kimmel, which you know is something you'd do, too.

 4. She's somehow managed to balance blockbuster roles with amazing indie picks, and is great in all of them.

Often times it's hard for actors to break away from their huge roles. But we always forget that this person:

Is also this person:

5. She always looks amazing...

...Even when her outfits kinda malfunction (like at the SAG Awards) or have weird boob flaps (like at the Golden Globes).

6. Even when she trips, she manages to be adorable.

Well, you take the good, you take the bad... Jennifer Lawrence did indeed win the 2013 Academy Award for Best Actress. However, as she made her way to the stage to make her acceptance speech, she tripped on her dress and wiped out on the stairs. It was definitely a "Whoops!" moment, but she handled it adorably with typical aplomb!
