How Many of 'The Bachelors' (And 'The Bachelorettes') Actually Found Happy Endings?

Last night, 29 year old Sean Lowe proposed marriage to a 26 year old woman named Catherine Giudici while millions of people watched on TV. The two claim that they are going to be married in a television special and live happily ever after, but how many past winners of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette have actually found their soul mates on TV?

Well, we dug through the last 11 years of The Bachelor (and The Bachelorette) to find out what happened to all those winners and losers and how many people got their happy ending.

A few notes before we reveal the final tally of engagements, marriages and happy endings per season:

  • Finalists and contestants who have gone on to marry characters from other seasons or other reality shows don't count in the tally. We also don't care if a finalist is living in Alaska with some nice person they met in a bar. You have to be "The Bachelor" or "The Bachelorette" and involved with either the winner of the competition or the runner-up to matter to us.

  • We are counting The Bachelor and The Bachelorette as being the same program because they are essentially the same set-up, but with genders swapped. The goal is to end the series engaged to one person, married, and then to have a happy ending.

  • We aren't messing with those Bachelor Pad or Bachelorette Pad messes or international versions of the show. THIS IS ABOUT TRUE AMERICAN LOVE PEOPLE.
  • So, without further ado...how many proposals, how many marriages and how many happy endings were there in 25 combined seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette?

Seasons: 6, (Accepted) Proposals: 4, Marriages: 1, Happy Endings: 1

    bachelor-5

The Bachelor 5 (2004) - Jesse Palmer did not propose to Jessica Bowlin, and they dated for a few months, rode in cars together and waved at people before breaking up.

     Seasons: 7, Proposals: 4, Marriages: 1, Happy Endings: 1

    Bachelor-6

The Bachelor 6 (2004)- Byron Velvick did not propose to Mary Delgado, but they dated for five years, which is almost a realistic happy ending, but then again not at all.

    Seasons: 8, Proposals: 4, Marriages: 1, Happy Endings: 1

    Bachelorette-3

The Bachelorette 3 (2005) - Jennifer Schefft rejected all the bachelors. There is no love! There is only money!

Seasons: 9, (Accepted) Proposals: 4, Marriages: 1, Happy Endings: 1

    Bachelor-7

The Bachelor 7 (2005) - Charlie O'Connell (brother of Sliders star, Jerry O'Connell) did not propose to winner Sarah Brice, and they were on-and-off as a couple from 2005-2010. No word on who has custody of the puppy pictured.

    Seasons: 10, Proposals: 4, Marriages: 1, Happy Endings: 1

    Bachelor-8

The Bachelor 8 (2006) - Travis Lane Stork did not propose to winner Sarah Stone, but they dated briefly and broke up shortly after the show aired. Travis now appears on the daytime show The Doctors and Sarah has not been seen or heard from again. Just kidding! There's a rumor she's a real estate agent in Nashville, but unlike most winners of The Bachelor, it would appear she has gone out of the way to avoid attention.

    Seasons: 11, Proposals: 4, Marriages: 1, Happy Endings: 1

    Bachelor-9

The Bachelor 9 (2006) - Prince Lorenzo Borghese did not propose to winner Jennifer Wilson, but they dated for a few months and then broke up, and then started attending press events separately for fun.

    Seasons: 12, Proposals: 4, Marriages: 1, Happy Endings: 1

The Bachelor 10 (2007) - Andrew Baldwin proposed to winner Tessa Horst, but they called off the engagement a month after the finale. They kept dating for a few more months and went biking at least once before finally breaking up.

    Seasons: 13, Proposals: 5, Marriages: 1, Happy Endings: 1

    Bachelor-11

The Bachelor 11 (2007) - Brad Womack did not propose to anyone and no one won and no one was loved but Brad Womack was loved by Brad Womack.

    Seasons: 14, Proposals: 5, Marriages: 1, Happy Endings: 1

    Bachelor-12

The Bachelor 12 (2008) - Matt Grant proposed to winner (and daughter of Lorenzo LamasShayne Lamas, but they broke up a few months later.

    Seasons: 15, Proposals: 6, Marriages: 1, Happy Endings: 1

    Bachelorette-4

The Bachelorette 4 (2008) - Okay, so DeAnna Pappas accepted winner Jesse Csincsak's proposal, but the wedding was called off. Her runner up, Jason Mesnick was the next Bachelor, and one of his cast-offs ended up marrying Jesse Csincsak and they're still married, so that's a marriage and happy ending, but since the marriage is between a winner and not a Bachelorette or winner/runner-up of a Show, the marriage doesn't count in the tally since it happened outside of the set-up of the show, but we'll give them the happy ending for finding love in a hopeless place.

If none of that makes sense, remember that going on television to compete for a soulmate doesn't make a whole lot of sense either.

Seasons: 16, (Accepted) Proposals: 7, Marriages: 1, Happy Endings: 2

    Bachelor-13

The Bachelor 13 (2009) - Bachelorette 4 runner-up Jason Mesnick proposed to Melissa Rycroft (pictured left), but then dumped her in the finale for her runner-up, Molly Malaney, whom he later married. They are currently expecting their first child and like color-coordinating during the holidays. Rycroft is famous from Dancing With the Stars and is married to someone unaffiliated with The Bachelor series so her wedding doesn't count in the tally, but her happy ending does because the rest of this is so crazy we just have to give it her.

    Seasons: 17, Proposals: 9, Marriages: 2, Happy Endings: 4

    Bachelorette-5

The Bachelorette 5 (2009) - Jillian Harris accepted winner Ed Swiderski's proposal, but they broke up about a year later.

Seasons: 18, (Accepted) Proposals: 10, Marriages: 2, Happy Endings: 4

    Bachelor-14

The Bachelor 14 (2009) - Jake Pavelka proposed to winner Vienna Girardi, but they broke up a few months later.

    Seasons: 19, Proposals: 11, Marriages: 2, Happy Endings: 4

    Bachelorette-6

The Bachelorette 6 (2010) - Ali Fedotowsky accepted winner Roberto Martinez's proposal, but they broke up in November 2011.

Seasons: 20, (Accepted) Proposals: 12, Marriages: 2, Happy Endings: 4

    Bachelor-15

The Bachelor 15 (2011) - Brad Womack returned to The Bachelor and did actually propose this time to winner Emily Maynard. However, they broke up a few months later. So, Brad Womack still loves no one but Brad Womack.

    Seasons: 21, Proposals: 13, Marriages: 2, Happy Endings: 4

    Bachelorette-7

The Bachelorette 7 (2011) - Ashely Hebert accepted winner J.P. Rosenbaum's proposal and they were married in a televised special on December 16, 2012.

Seasons: 22, (Accepted) Proposals: 14, Marriages: 3, Happy Endings: 5

    Bachelor-16

The Bachelor 16 (2012) - Ben Flajnik proposed to winner Courtney Robertson, but they broke up while the show aired, then got engaged again, and broke up a few months later (but I only count that as one engagement because it was between the same two people).

    Seasons: 23, Proposals: 15, Marriages: 3, Happy Endings: 5

    Bachelorette-8

The Bachelorette 8 (2012) - Emily Maynard accepted winner Jef Holm's proposal, but they broke up a few months later.

Seasons: 24, (Accepted) Proposals: 16, Marriages: 3, Happy Endings: 5

    Bachelor-17

The Bachelor 17 (2013) - Sean Lowe proposed to winner Catherine Giudici. They announced they will be married in a televised special and that Sean will join next season of Dancing with the Stars. WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT?

    Seasons: 25, Proposals: 17, Marriages: 4?, Happy Endings: 6?

    That said...

    Bachelorette-9

The Bachelorette 9 (Scheduled 2013) - It's been announced that The Bachelor 17 fourth place finisher Desiree Hartsock will be the next Bachelorette. Only time will tell if she'll accept any proposals or if she'll reveal her upper arm workout regime.

    FINAL TOTAL - Seasons: 26, Proposals: 17, Marriages: 3, Happy Endings: 6

    Pattie-Mallette-Bachelorette

Bachelorette ??? (20??) - Justin Bieber's mother, Pattie Mallette, posted on twitter that she might be the next Bachelorette, which might be wishful thinking, but think of the ratings if potential suitors have to impress Bieber!

Seasons: 27, Proposals: ??, Marriages: ??, Happy Endings: LOOK, SHE IS ALREADY JUSTIN BIEBER'S MOM. I THINK SHE IS PRETTY HAPPY.
