'Glee' Remembers Cory Monteith, We Look Back At At Our 2009 Interview With Him

We're buying extra boxes of Kleenex for Glee's "The Quarterback," the episode dedicated to Finn Hudson and Cory Monteith, the late actor who made Finn one of the most endearing singing football players ever to grace the small screen. Just to get the tears started a little early, we reached into the VH1 archives and pulled out this interview we did with Monteith, Lea Michele and Amber Riley back in 2009. It was a silly round of "5 Questions," but now even Cory's joking answers mean something to us.

"What makes me feel free is not wearing underwear," he began. His favorite song on that first Glee album was "Somebody to Love," and the hardest thing he had to do on the show, of course, was dance.

When we asked whether the three were Team Rachel and Finn or Team Rachel and Puck --- and damn, remember when that was a thing? --- Lea amusingly decided she should get to have both of McKinley High's most eligible bachelors. "As long as I don't find out about it, it's cool," Cory put in.

And which would he rather be: an All-American winner, or the underdog? "I'm going to have to say All American underdog, because that's what my character's all about," he said. So true, Cory. And wow, will we miss him.
