You may not know the name Ansel Elgort yet (and oh, what a name it is!), but by the end of 2014 he's guaranteed to have household recognition. Yes, even your clueless dad will soon be referring to "that Ansel fellow." The 19-year-old actor's first film, Carrie, is out today, and he's got two much-anticipated projects dropping next year: Divergent and The Fault in our Stars. Fans are already obsessed with him even though he's barely been onscreen. And we totally get it; his presence in Carrie is undeniable. America, get ready to meet your next big thing.

Here are five reasons you need to be paying attention to Ansel Elgort right now.

 1. He impressed his Carrie co-stars and director, and it was his first film!

Carrie director Kimberly Peirce told VH1 why Ansel stood out over all the other guys who auditioned for the role of sweet jock Tommy Ross.

And his co-star Judy Greer lauded his professionalism and talent: "I really loved his performance in the movie. I knew he was going to be great but I was like, totally thrilled."

2. He's one of those amazing multi-creative types.

Ansel's a graduate of NYC's La Guardia High School, a prestigious performing arts school that inspired the movie Fame. In addition to acting, he produces EDM music under the name Ansolo, and he's good. Check out this "Born to Die" remix he did.

3. He's incredibly active with the fans, and they already adore him.

He tweets! He Instagrams! He does live chats with the fans. Is it any wonder he's already got an army of supporters even though his first film just opened?

4. Let's be honest: he's hot.

There's no shame in admitting it: The guy's face is reallllllll easy to look at. He's tall. He's got a deep voice. And the best part: He actually has that "crooked grin" authors always mention when describing hunky dudes in YA books.

5. He's John Green approved.

We like to think of TFIOS author/vlogger extraordinaire John Green as a great judge of character, and he and Ansel clearly are tight. Just look at all their adorable Instagram pics together!
