With a record-breaking $4.7 billion earned at the box office this summer alone, it's fair to say that 2013 had some monster movies. But despite this, '13 lived up to its unlucky namesake by dishing out more than it's fair share of monster flops. Studios bet big on some blockbuster hopefuls that did nothing but bust their banks. Turkeys, duds, bombs; whatever you call them, they hit film maker's hard this year!

Formerly lucrative box-office draws like Harrison Ford and Sylvester Stallone were D.O.A. in theaters, and even hot current (and non-senior citizen) stars like Selena Gomez, Benedict Cumberbatch and Ryan Reynolds weren't enough to fill up seats. The twin-titans of terrible movies this year were Johnny Depp's passion project The Lone Ranger and bizarro buddy-flick R.I.P.D., which ranked as the third and fourth (respectively) biggest money-losers in Hollywood history. Ooof!

With facts and figures courtesy of Box Office Mojo, head on up to the gallery above to check out 15 films that definitely didn't make the grade this year. In fact, we bet more people are reading this blog post right now than went to see some of these movies!
