If you love watching celebrities making spectacles (and spectacular disasters of themselves) THIS is the most wonderful time of the year: We're still chuckling to ourselves over the Golden Globe Awards disasters and gleefully looking forward to the Grammys and the Oscars. As we count down the hours to red carpet glory, we thought we'd take a second to think back fondly at the moments when stars and their stylists took their desire to make headlines a little TOO far. As in, Bjork, most people remember your 2001 Oscar swan gown better than anything you ever sang...

Our list here includes just the four major shows: Emmys, Golden Globes, Grammys and Oscars (really, we'd be here all day if we counted VMAs). It all begins with Cher. Even back in 1974, she was breaking all the rules and showing up to the Academy Awards in a rainbow-colored bra and skirt. The late '80s and '90s were a horrifying era, when Demi Moore thought bike shorts were a great red-carpet idea and Julia Roberts was somehow forced to prove that even in an oversize man's suit, she was the most beautiful woman alive. In the late '90s, Celine Dion cracked us up with her backwards blazer. And then there were the awesome early days of the millennium. Remember when all of Destiny's Child used to go to shows in thematically similar (and unflattering) dresses?

Today, we can always count on Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj to show up in something insane --- if anything can top that egg in 2011, we're dying to see it! But we want to point out something you may have already noticed: Nothing from 2013 or 2014 has made it into our list of 20. Have the stars and their stylists wimped out on us? Are they actually worried about making our lists? We hope not!
