Whether you are new to makeup or totally obsessed, here are five easy tips that will help you look like a celebrity. Rihanna, Adriana Lima, Khloé Kardashian and many other stars are sporting bold lips this season as if it’s their best accessory.
Your lip color should always be an enhancement of your mood. Select your hue the same way you choose your outfit. Consider your lip shade as a statement piece for your own self-expression. Have fun with your choices whether you feel pretty in pink, classically red, or powerful in black. In addition, an extra dose of confidence will automatically transform you into a showstopper!
Rihanna’s makeup artist. Karin Darnell, revealed to Elle Magazine (UK), “For the Te Amo video I used a deep, dark berry lipstick. I then applied a berry gloss in the middle of the lip to break it up. Light in the center, whether it’s a clear gloss or a hint of pink or red, will give dark lip colors warmth.”

STEP 1: Moisturize
ChapStick is your friend! Remember, anytime you wear a bold lip it draws attention to your mouth. Therefore, it is very important that you hydrate your lips and moisturize well.
STEP 2: Apply Foundation
Take out your foundation powder (CVS: Maybelline Fit Me! Pressed Powder US$7.99) and lightly dab a small amount onto the surface of your mouth. It is essential that you create a blank canvas for your color, by using your foundation to neutralize the natural tint of your lips. This will ensure that the pigment of your new lipstick is being maximized to it’s fullest potential.
STEP 3: Lip Pencil
Carefully outline your lips with a lip pencil by using small strokes. Lining your lip is important because it will prevent your lip color from running off of the surface of your lips. Be sure to choose a lip pencil that blends well with your lipstick.
STEP 4: Lipstick
Fill in your outline with your lipstick (or lip stain). If you choose to use lipstick then we recommend you apply the color to your lips with a lip brush (CVS: Eco Tools Detailed Lip Brush US$3.99). Make sure you evenly apply your color so there are no clumps. Use a napkin to lightly blot your lips. This will prevent any excess product from smearing onto your teeth.
STEP 5: Lip-gloss
Lip-gloss should be used at your own discretion. However, we recommend that you apply a thin layer a few minutes after your lip color sets in.
