Today marks the 10th anniversary of our beloved Friends series finale. Cue the “I’ll Be There For You” theme song and let all that nostalgia sink in. Sigh. We wish more than anything we would get a reboot about our six favorite Manhattanites, but while we’re in the spirit, let’s celebrate the television remakes and adaptations that did happen. Starting with the ones we couldn’t (and still can’t) get enough of.

Believe it or not, some of your favorite TV shows didn’t even originate on television. Or in the good ol’ U-S of A. Both Veep and The Office were adapted from other shows made by our friends across the pond, while Friday Night Lights came after a book and a movie of the same name.

Did you know your favorite sassy sitcom about four Manhattan women was based on various essays in a newspaper column? Or that the gripping drama about your favorite serial killer was originally based on a novel? Yes, we speak the truth. Brace yourselves, TV lovers, your minds are about to be blown.
