Did Chris Colfer Just Get Fired From 'Glee'?
On Thursday Glee's Chris Colfer announced his departure from the Fox series. "Due to personal issues, I have been let go from the cast of GLEE," he Tweeted, before adding: "Explanations will come shortly…" Wait, what? Colfer has played fan favorite Kurt Hummel since season 1, and his character was and remains an integral part of the show's shift to New York. He was never rumored to have drama behind the scenes — unlike costar Naya Rivera who was rumored to have conflict with Lea Michele, and whose future with the show has been called into question multiple times — so surely he'd be a central focus during the show's sixth and final season.
Shortly after the Colfer tweet, his manager told The Hollywood Reporter that his Twitter account was hacked, and he will certainly be a part of the show's final season. Hacking happens, but could this just be an extreme case of crisis PR? Following Colfer's manager, 20th Century Fox TV issued the following statement: "We’ve been alerted that Chris Colfer’s Twitter account has been hacked. Rumors of his dismissal from Glee could not be further from the truth. We love Chris and look forward to working with him again this season." Earlier this spring Fox announced that Glee's sixth and final season will be held until midseason, returning in 2015.
While we wait on more information regarding Colfer and Glee's future, take a look at some other famous faces who were kicked off of hit television shows.
