The contenders for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards have been announced, and we can't help but pore over the picks from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. So who unexpectedly got tapped, and who majorly got snubbed?

Naturally, perennial favorites like Modern Family, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad made the cuts for the shows categories. In terms of actors, we figured Veep's Julia Louis-Dreyfus was a lock, as well as House Of Cards' Kevin Spacey. However, we always get a few curveballs thrown our way to keep us on our toes! Browse through the gallery above to see the top choices that we didn't see coming. And then check out this adorable video from the cast of Orange Is The New Black, who totally surprised us this year.

Tatiana Maslany is literally doing 5-7 times the work as any actress on screen, yet it doesn't go recognized. #EmmyNoms

— DZ (@PutJackOnJill) July 10, 2014

So relieved they didn't waste a perfectly good #Emmynoms on Tatiana Maslany when they had that overlooked Modern Family cast to consider!

The Emmys threw credibility out the window long ago. By snubbing Tatiana Maslany they have now also crushed it with a grand piano. #EmmyNoms
