We've been waiting for the fifth and final season of Boardwalk Empire with equal parts anticipation and dread. Anticipation, because it's one of our favorite shows. Dread, because it's one of our favorite shows. This fifth season, unfortunately, marks an ending for the shady dealings of Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) and the gangster underworld of a Prohibition-era Atlantic City. But it's not all doom and gloom — we're glad that Boardwalk Empire will bow out on a high note, leaving the party while it's still fun. And what better way to preserve such a beautifully cinematic, narrative rich legacy?
VH1 attended the red carpet premiere for season five, and caught up with some of the stars of the show to ask them how they thought Boardwalk Empire was going to end. None of the cast has any clue where the show is going, making their expectations just as creative as our own. From the bleak predictions of Michael K. Williams (Chalky White) to the optimistic views of Domenick Lombardozzi (Ralph Capone), to the potential vampire crossover spin-off we dreamed up with John Ellison Conlee (who played the late Commodore), the cast's predictions are definitely diverse.
And of course, it wouldn't be a conversation about Boardwalk Empire if we didn't turn our attention to the shows more brutal, grisly moments. So we also took the liberty of asking the stars which on screen deaths from past seasons really turned their tummies. Some answers you might agree with, and other's perhaps giving you pause for thought, bringing out a more emotional side to Boardwalk Empire's shocking violence.
