A Tribute To Bill Murray's Great Surprise Appearances

Bill Murray's film St. Vincent hits theaters this weekend, and it might be the first time he's made an unsurprising appearance in peoples' lives in quite a while. The legendary actor has a knack for showing up to festive celebrations — a bachelor party here, a karaoke night there — completely unannounced. And let's be honest, who wouldn't welcome badass Murray into their party with open arms?

In honor of Murray's latest big-screen venture, we've assembled eight of Murray's most epic party crashes. We want to know how to get Murray to do drunk karaoke with us.

Surprise bar-tending at South By Southwest (2010)

At the 2010 SXSW festival in Austin, Murray surprised patrons at hotspot Shangri-La by hopping behind the bar and mixing drinks. He apparently had one rule: You can get anything you want, as long as it's a tequila shot.

"I turn around and it's Bill Murray with his shirt up, belly out, tapping his belly and trying to make them laugh." How's that for best wishes?

A bachelor party gets a surprise guest + wisdom (2014)

Murray must like the weather in Charleston because he made another surprise appearance at a steakhouse bachelor party. However, he managed to celebrate everyone but the groom. According to Huffington Post, Murray said, "You know how funerals are not for the dead, they're for the living? Bachelor parties are not for the groom, they're for the uncommitted." #RealTalk

Played for a bit… Gave us all high-fives and let us pose with him in the picture,” a player told Entertainment WeeklyNo matter what team you were on, this game was a win for everyone.

If you have sweet treats, he will come. When Joe, owner of the Los Angeles-based CVT Soft Serve, heard Murray was filming in his neighborhood, he decided to throw an ice cream social in his honor. And, whodathunkit, Murray actually showed up! Joe brilliantly told Gawker, "Like my dad always says, 'You'll never dance with the pretty girl unless you ask.'" Now we're jealous we didn't go to prom with Bill Murray.

Dueling birthdays (2014)

Murray proved his national treasure status again when he attended a birthday party for Charleston resident Marvin Larry Reynolds that, coincidentally, was also for him. The undisputed highlight of the night was when Murray turned up with various partygoers to the seminal classic "Turn Down For What." If you're Murray, the answer is nothing, apparently.

Let me do your dishes (2006)

This one's a throwback, but oh-so-good. At a celebrity golf tournament in St. Andrews in 2006, Murray was kicking it at a bar with some friends when he met 22-year-old Norwegian girl Lykke Stavnef. Stavnef was shocked when Murray actually agreed to accompany her to a party with several students. "Nobody could believe it when I arrived at the party with Bill Murray," Stavnef told The Telegraph. Even more unbelievable, Murray offered to clean the partygoers' dirty dishes. What a gentleman!

Karaoke will never be the same (2011)

What happens when you spot Bill Murray at Karaoke One in New York City? You ask him to drunkenly sing Elvis tunes with you, of course! And that's exactly what Mike and his friends did, according to The Chive. The actor reportedly stayed the whole time in the group's private room and even bought everyone drinks. What a guy!
