Ryan Murphy’s gone and done it again. Today we’re feeling a roller coaster of emotions from American Horror Story, and we haven’t even watched a new episode.
At the American Horror Story: Freak Show PaleyFest panel Sunday night, AHS MVP Jessica Lange muttered those dreaded words: “I’m done.” The actress reluctantly shed some light on the departure we all feared would come. “You know, we’ve had a great run here. I mean, I have absolutely loved doing these four characters that I’ve had the opportunity to play.” she said. “In all the madness, I’ve loved the writers and my actors and Ryan [Murphy] and the whole, I mean, insanity of it.”
But brace yourselves, because yesterday this beautiful man announced he’s joining the cast for season 5.
Matt Bomer, everybody. (He may or may not be playing Lady Gaga’s love interest on the show.) “Showing up on [the Freak Show] set was like arriving at a community and it just felt like this world where there really were no bounds, which is very rare to experience as an actor,” said Bomer about his AHS experience. “I had the time of my life, I told Ryan that, and when he called me for the next season, I said, ’Oh yeah’…I only got to dip my toes into the freaky-deaky nature. I’m ready to go to the deep end, baby.”
You’re all a little less sad now, right? Maybe? “I love collaborating with Ryan Murphy,” Bomer said. We love it too, Matt. We love it too.
Joining Bomer in season 5 is Cheyenne Jackson. “This is my favorite show, and I think [Ryan] maybe knew that, and about six months ago he came and talked to me,” he told the PaleyFest audience. “I know nothing [about my role]… but like Matt, I’m ready to jump in.”
It’s a total bummer that Lange is actually leaving, because let’s face it: the show won’t be the same without her and her crazy accents. But with news of the Magic Mike XXL actor and our favorite 30 Rock star joining, we’ll gladly be checking into this hotel.
