Yesterday, it was announced that the 1999 teen comedy She’s All That is getting a “modern” remake. The proposed film will be directed by Kenny Leon, who brought us the Queen Latifah and Lifetime version of Steel Magnolias, and produced by Tonya Lewis Lee, wife of Spike Lee. But are the original stars on board with the plan?
The film will reportedly have a diverse cast, which is good news because the original only had a few black characters (though that was certainly more than most other ’80s and ’90s teen comedies), including Gabrielle Union and Dule Hill, who would later be parodied by Deon Richmond as “the token black friend” in 2001’s Not Another Teen Movie.

One thing’s for sure: if Usher isn’t reprising his role as school DJ (because the school had a DJ) we want no part of it.
UPDATE 4/8/15: Studio sources tell Just Jared that the remake is not happening. You win this round, Prinze Jr.!
