Melissa Rivers to Former 'Fashion Police' Host Kathy Griffin: "Don't Crap All Over My Mother"

The Fashion Police EP does not have love for Griffin following her departure from the show.

Fashion Police executive producer Melissa Rivers had the tough task of carrying on with the longrunning series her mother Joan made famous, only to be put at the center of a controversy. After the fallout from Giuliana Rancic's Zendaya joke, which led co-hosts Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin to quit, Rivers is putting the pieces back together and planning for a September return. But what does she think about the newly hired Griffin's decision to jump at the first sign of trouble?

"My biggest complaint was the feeling that she kind of s--t all over my mother's legacy in her statement on leaving. And I know that that was not an intentional reading of it, but that's how I felt," she told Hoda Kotb during an event at the 92nd Street Y in New York. "I understand what you're doing, you're trying to save yourself. But don't crap all over my mother."

To refresh your memory, here's Griffin's March 12 statement announcing her departure from the show:

During her appearance on Big Morning Buzz Live this week, Rivers revealed how Fashion Police is already prepping for a fall return.
