Justin Bieber's Acoustic Version Of "What Do You Mean?" Will Make You Love It Even More
Justin Bieber's "What Do You Mean?" was just the song to trump The Weeknd's infectious "Can't Feel My Face" jam for the coveted spot on Billboard's Hot 100. "What Do You Mean?" debuted at number one, and it marks Biebs' first song ever to reach that spot ("Boyfriend" peaked at number two in 2012). To thank his fans, the Biebs released a special acoustic version of the song on YouTube yesterday.
Acoustic Biebs is the best kind of Biebs. Yes, Justin can sing and dance and take his shirt off in one faint-inducing move, but he has always been at his prime when it's just his voice and a guitar. That's not to say that he doesn't put on an entertaining show. He does — very well. But the flying effects, dance moves, etc. are like toppings. They make the performance better, but when you take them away, you're still left with the Biebs' voice. And that is his most incredible asset.
The Biebs sang "Mean" live at this year's VMAs in a performance that took an unexpectedly emotional turn. The video Justin posted yesterday includes footage of his VMA performance, which you can revisit here.
Stay tuned for the release of Justin's forthcoming album next month, and check out the acoustic version of "What Do You Mean?" in the video above. Congratulations on your number one hit, Biebsy!
