8 Things Justin Bieber Said That Made Beliebers Question Their Faith

"I don't own a jet, but I rent jets in my spare time."

Justin Bieber has quite a way with words. He's a dude with an outlook, and he's not afraid of showing his true colors, as evidenced by his most recent Complex cover story.

The Biebs is known to be candid in interviews, and while you might not always agree with what he says, you can — and should — appreciate his honesty. Here are some of the most hilarious, ridiculous, and bizarre things Justin has said in interviews and on social media.

"They're very expensive-sounding sounds."

Justin spoke to The New York Times last month about his Jack Ü collaboration "Where Are Ü Now." He revealed that, to his surprise, the sounds Diplo and Skrillex used in the song were expensive. Biebs' quote came off as sounding oblivious to Deadmau5, who was so annoyed by the comment, he went in on the Biebs via Twitter.

"Who's Shawn Mendes?"

Nevermind the copious amounts of similarities people draw between Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes. The Biebs had no idea who Shawn was until recently. Justin was asked about Shawn in an interview with 95.5 PLJ a few weeks ago, to which he flawlessly responded: "Who's Shawn Mendes?"

*whispers* "Girls are often flip-floppy. They say something and then they mean something else. So like, 'What Do You Mean?'"

The Biebs spoke to Ryan Seacrest in July before the release of "What Do You Mean?", saying that the song's inspiration comes from his own experiences with women. His voice turned to a whisper as he explained that women often send him mixed messages, and he just wants to know what the hell we mean. So eager, so attentive.

"If you go to Taco Bell, that doesn’t make you a taco.”

Justin spoke to Complex about his music, metamorphosis, and religion in what became one of the most quotable interviews since Jaden and Willow Smith's T Magazine one. Justin got to the heart of what it means to be a Christian by referencing Taco Bell — and rightly so. “You don’t need to go to church to be a Christian," he said. "If you go to Taco Bell, that doesn’t make you a taco.”

"I'm not sure about the parties, but whatever they have in Korea, that's bad."

The Biebs still wasn't old enough to vote when he spoke to Rolling Stone in 2011, and though he wasn't sure at the time which political party he would support, he did deliver the above quote about politics in general. A political philosopher in the making, if we're being honest.

"It's not hard to be a good boyfriend. You just have to be sweet, loving, caring, and stuff."

Justin told Extra in 2012 that he didn't think being a good boyfriend was all that hard. I mean, all it takes really is being sweet, loving, caring, and "stuff," a.k.a. being respectful and smart, having a sense of humor, the list goes on. But if the Biebs can be a good boyfriend, you can, too. [Insert cheesy smile and thumbs up here]

"I don't own a jet, but I rent jets in my spare time."

Martha Stewart, of all people, interviewed the Biebs for Interview Magazine this past summer. Martha asked Justin what his favorite mode of transportation was, to which J responded, "Probably a private jet." I mean, duh, right? Martha then asked Biebs if he has a private jet of his own. His response was: "I don't own a jet, but I rent jets in my spare time." Renting jets as a hobby is a thing, people.

"It’s like, why did you travel to see me in the first place? Was it really to see me or was it to get that moment of you seeing me so you could tell people about it?"

Justin recently lectured his fans on SnapChat about being asked to pose for pictures, saying that the manner in which he's asked to take a photo directly impacts his decision to take the photo or not. He also gave the above quote, which really makes you wonder: Does Justin Bieber just want to know that he's loved? Yes. Yes, he does.

You are loved, Biebs. Never forget.
