Last night, TMZ caught Lamar Odom’s father Joe outside of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A., where Lamar is currently being treated in aftermath of his drug overdose. A frustrated and saddened Joe tells the camera that he is not allowed to see his son, and he blames Khloe. We know about his tumultuous past with Lamar, but does that justify what’s happening?
“I’m mad, I’m upset because this is the second time I came to see my son and they won’t let me see my son,” he says. He calls it “sabotage” and proceeds to ask: “Why can’t I see my son? I brought him in the world.”
Joe claims he wasn’t on the visitors list and tried reaching out to Khloe, who he says is the one calling the shots. He also says prior to Lamar’s overdose, he saw him every day in Vegas, but now, Lamar doesn’t want to be within “10 feet” of him.
Part of me thinks Joe is just flat-out crazy. We know he always had it out for the Kardashians, and this isn’t the first time he’s gone on an anti-Khloe tangent. Also, how good of an influence could he have been on Lamar if he saw him consistently before the overdose?
And of course, we know Lamar attributed many of his demons to his father, who’s a former drug addict. I completely understand that while recovering and in a fragile mental and physical state, Lamar shouldn’t have to face Joe and the unimaginable, difficult feelings there. If Lamar really wanted to see his father, I’m sure he would allow it to happen.
However, there are two sides to every story, and while I’d like to believe Khloe is making the right, smart call and is preventing Joe from seeing Lamar for a reason, I can’t help but wonder if she’s in the wrong here. We don’t know Joe’s side. Maybe he is that heartbroken and frustrated and just wants to see his own son. Seeing him so desperate in that video, I can’t help but feel bad for him. I know Khloe has been by Lamar’s side since he was first hospitalized, and is technically still his wife, but blood is thicker than water, and a majority of me really thinks Joe is entitled to seeing his own, sick son in the hospital.
So my answer is yes, if you’re asking me, I do think it’s a little messed up. But again, there are two sides to every story, and in this case, we’ll probably never know the entirety of both.
