These Interracial Pop Culture Couples Prove That Love Is Colorblind

Love is human.

-- by Amanda Bell

Heart haters to the left because love is an emotion we're all entitled to experience with whomever we like -- not something specially reserved just for members of one race or another to enjoy exclusive of everyone else.

For these celebs and iconic character couples, the old skin-deep barriers have been shoveled right into the garbage where they belong, while they proudly showcase the fact that mixed-race relationships (and mixed-ethnicity relashes, too, but that's a topic for another day) are amazing. Bow down to those beauties.

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen

Not only did their steamy romance inspire his biggest-ever hit “All of Me,” but they’ve also been raising the bar on celeb relationships with their unbridled commitment to food, their careers, each other (esp their nekkid bodies), and their growing fam. Guess some people can have it all.

Shawn and Angela on Boy Meets World

Cory and Topanga might have been the O.G. couple of Boy Meets World but whenever Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong) and Angela Moore (Trina McGee) got together it was straight fire. These two had so much electricity flowing between them that we could still see the sparks even when they reunited on completely platonic terms in Girl Meets World.

Rick and Michonne on The Walking Dead

This pair of longtime friends was a bit unexpected, despite Michonne becoming a sort of stand-in mother for Rick’s son, Carl. Still, no one thought the show would go against the comic book source text and make something happen between the sword-yielding tough girl and the leader of the pack. But then one night, after a long day of trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic hellscape, the two collapse on the couch and sparks fly. It’s like When Harry Met Sally…with Zombies!

Zoe Saldana and Marco Perego

The sci-fi queen found her earthling prince in Marco Perego (now Marco Perego-Saldana because they bucked tradition and changed his last name instead of hers), an artist with whom she has twin boys, Cy Aridio and Bowie Ezio.

Aisha Tyler and Jeff Tietjens

The Criminal Minds star has been married to her lawyer husband for a million (OK, 24, but *still*) years and counting. That's a long time. Seriously, their wedding took place when people were still wearing MC Hammer pants. Slow clap for these two making it last.

Justin and Keisha Chambers

Justin Chambers might play a barely redeemable d-bag when it comes to relationships on Grey's Anatomy, but in real life, he's an upstanding family man for sure. He and his wife of over 20 (!!) years have five children together. D'awww.

Bonnie and Jeremy on The Vampire Diaries

The Mystic Falls faithful will remember that before Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) and Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen) became a thing, they were a couple of lonely, lost souls dealing with their unique gifts and feeling misunderstood, despite all the other supernatural happenings around town. So, when they finally caved into their shared crush, it was actual magic.

Tamara Mowry and Adam Housley

The Real co-host and her journalist husband have been married for almost five years and have two too-cute kiddos to show for their devotion.

Rose and Bernard on Lost

Over the course of the serie's six crazy seasons, the relationship of Rose and Bernard Nadler emerged as one of the most compelling of the entire show. They started out as a couple of newlyweds who were separated during the initial crash, and when they were finally reunited, like a million episodes in, it was like an explosion of feels and there was not a dry eye on the Island (tear).

Robert Pattinson and FKA twigs

After his split with Kristen Stewart, Twilight star Robert Pattinson became the most eligible vampire bachelor in the world, and when he linked up with the singer-dancer (whose parents are of Jamaican and English-Spanish descent) it raised his cool points count quite a bit.

Ellen Pompeo and Chris Ivery

The true-life love story of this Grey's Anatomy star and her music producer husband began in a supermarket -- seriously -- back in 2003, right before she skyrocketed to TV fame as the star surgical resident of Seattle Grace. They've since married and have two daughters together.

Turk and Carla on Scrubs

In addition to being one-half of one of the most off-the-wall-awesome bromances in TV history, Dr. Turk (Donald Faison) also had a pretty amazing pairing with nurse Carla Espinosa (Judy Reyes). These two always called each other out on their crap and were so ridiculously cute when they gave into the fuzzy stuff that it was secondhand uncomfortable to watch sometimes.

Maggie and Glenn on The Walking Dead

Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) and Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) found love in a hopeless place when they fell for each other amid the zombie apocalypse, and together they've brightened up the mood of the show exponentially with their lovely bond. Of course, their future is still to be determined and looking grimmer by the episode, but for now, they're hanging in there -- sometimes literally.

Kimye

Kanye West might be a living, breathing exercise in public WTF-ness right now (hellooo Twitter fingers), but he’s still got a pretty awww-worthy little family situation going on right now with wife Kim Kardashian and their two West babies, Saint and North.

The Weeknd and Bella Hadid

We can’t feel our faces when we think about Bella (whose family is of Palestinian and Dutch descent) and Abel (whose parents are originally from Ethiopia) together behind closed doors because that is a smoking hot pairing right there. They probably even smile once in awhile when no one's looking.

Olivia and Jake on Scandal

We're going to table the Team Fitz vs. Team Jake discussion for another time, but for now we'll just say that both couplings have been steaming up our Thursday nights on the reg, and we hope they continue to do so for years to come because YUM. But Olivia Pope and her Prezzy are anything but cute together -- sultry, sexy, hot damn hot, YES, but not "cute." She and Jake Ballard, however, do know how to cut loose from time to time and have a laugh or two before all the rompage begins -- ya know, when they're not double-crossing each other in the name of national security and such.

Ice-T and Coco

Their love of chill beverage-inspired monikers is not all these long-time lovebirds have in common. Coco’s many curves have been giving this rapper-actor googoo eyes for 15 years now, and they recently welcome baby Chanel into the world and made theirs a family of three.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes

Gos and Eva, whose family hails from Cuba, are definitely a discreet pair. They've been a thing for half a decade now and even have a baby together, but they manage to keep their romance at Scooby Doo-level mystery status by avoiding PDA at all times. Ironically, they're all the more intriguing because of this perpetual privacy play.

Jessica Jones and Luke Cage

The future of Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter) might still be up in the air in the Netflix iteration of Jessica Jones -- especially since Luke's getting a stand-alone series in the very near future -- but in the comics, these two are not only together, but they're married, have a kid and are kicking ass and taking names side by side.

David and Keith on Six Feet Under

David (Michael C. Hall) and Keith (Mathew St. Patrick) had a lot of tough stuff to grapple with -- not the least of which was the fact that one of 'em ran a grim frickin' funeral home -- but they always found a way to make it fun, even if it meant staging an impromptu bedroom karaoke session.

Troy and Britta from Community

The secondary benefit to joining a study group is that you might meet someone who makes you want to redefine the term "student body." Such was the case for Troy (Donald Glover) and Britta (Gillian Jacobs), who were quirky and fun and had a mutual respect for pizza.

Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg

The Real World San Francisco alum, whose parents are Korean, married her repeat film co-star (they share the screen in Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong, Flock of Dudes and A Year and Change) and IRL boo on Halloween last year.

Jasmine and Crosby on Parenthood

Jasmine (Joy Bryant) and Crosby (Dax Shepard)'s series-long love story arc was full of highs and lows (and tons of surprises), but ultimately these two were so obviously meant to be forever status that you couldn't help but root for them to overcome and end up together.

Mindy and Danny on The Mindy Project

The future of the the betrothed Mindy (Mindy Kaling) and Danny (Chris Messina) is still very much TBD, but we're really rooting for these two to make it work because they've already broken down their cultural divides with his visit to meet her fam in India, they've got a lot in common career-wise obvi, they have a baby now HELLO and, let's face it, they are really freaking fun as one.
