Iggy Azalea has officially spoken out about the current status of her relationship with fiancé Nick Young and it’s not what you’d expect.
Last week, a video taken in secret by Young’s teammate D’Angelo Russell exploded on the Internet. The clip showed Young talking about cheating on Azalea and ultimately sparked rumors of an impending breakup between the two. Azalea appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today and cleared up these rumors, revealing she and Young are “good.”
“There isn’t [controversy] at home, just on the Internet,” Azalea told DeGeneres, putting to rest any ideas that she might be ending her engagement to Young. “We call them trolls. There’s just a lot of people that take great joy in saying really awful things to people, so I got a lot of that,” she continued. You can watch her interview with DeGeneres here.
Nicki Minaj took a similar tactic during her interview with DeGeneres earlier this week. After declaring she’s single, Minaj called people out for using her Instagram to determine the status of her relationship with Meek Mill. “Valentine’s Day passed and I didn’t put up my Valentine’s Day gift on Instagram and people said, ’They’re not together,'” she said, adding that she and Meek were actually in bed the whole day. “It’s better just to keep those things sacred. So, now, I don’t really care to say ’I’m in a relationship’ or ’I’m engaged’ or whatever,” Minaj continued.
Despite their rumored beef, Azalea and Minaj share some common ground: They are over Internet trolls starting sh-t about their love lives for no good reason. And aren’t we all, really?
Let these ladies’ words be a valuable lesson to us: Nothing is what it seems—especially on Instagram, land of the filtered selfie.
