Jennifer Hudson and 'The Color Purple' Cast Honored Prince in the Most Amazing Way

This is chilling.

Jennifer Hudson and the cast of The Color Purple did a beautiful thing last night.

After a performance of the musical, Hudson and her cast mates took an extra few minutes to honor Prince, who died yesterday at age 57. Hudson and co-star Cynthia Erivo led their peers in a stunning rendition of Prince's "Purple Rain" and it will bring you to tears.

"Not too long ago, [Prince] called me while we were here and asked me to come out to this event because he was writing his book and he told me you can bring your cast members along. We were honored to be in his presence one last time and we got to have that moment," Hudson told the audience. "He said his music will live on and he will live through his music so we want to keep him alive today with this song." She and her fellow cast members proceeded to give a sensational live performance of Prince's hit song.
