P!nk Said the Nastiest Thing to Prince When She Was 19 Years Old
In a new interview with Nova FM’s Fitzy and Wippa in Australia, P!nk opened up about a pretty memorable run-in with the late Prince, who passed away April 21. However, by memorable, we don't necessarily mean good, like Spike Lee's memories of the singer.
Quite the opposite, actually. According to P!nk, Prince straight-up refused to work with her when she asked him in 1998. But that's not the worst part: After he turned her down, she called him the nastiest thing.
“I asked him to collaborate with me,” P!nk said. “He asked if I owned my own masters." Unfortunately, P!nk wasn't seasoned enough at that point to have her own master recordings.
“I just actually got a record deal, so it was a little early for me to be demanding my masters back,” P!nk continued. “He told me to call him when I did. And I told him that he was a rude f--k, and then I went onstage.”
Yes, you read that correctly. P!nk called Prince a "rude f--k." But don't think there is any bad blood. This was 17 years ago, and P!nk realizes why it's important: Honoring and remembering Prince as the icon he was (and is).
“The world lost a lot of sparkle this year and it’s hurting my heart because I don’t know what’s going to replace it," she said.
After these kind words, we're sure Prince is totally over the "rude f--ck" comment!
