Kat Von D Would Very Much Like to Exclude Herself From Jeffree Star's Narrative + More Beauty News

Kylie Jenner's bestie scores a clothing collab.

This week is all about cutting ties and addressing lies, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that two major names in the makeup industry have ended their professional relationship.

Tattoo and makeup artist Kat Von D announced yesterday that she and Jeffree Star (the dude who occasionally uses Kylie Jenner to promote his brand) will no longer work together in a professional capacity. Kat broke the news in a lengthy Instagram post, addressing Jeffree's "inappropriate behavior" and saying she can no longer rationalize his promotion of "drug use, racism and bullying."

Kat wrote that a video fully explaining why she's disassociating from Jeffree is in the works, and that she's also pulling a shade she named after Jeffree from her makeup line.

Jeffree hopped on Twitter shortly after to give his side of the story. "The truth will come out later today," he wrote.

To use the words of the great Taylor Swift, Kat Von D would very much like to exclude herself from Jeffree Star's narrative. Effective now.

  • A makeup artist who goes by the name Mayra applied 100 coats of liquid lipstick to her lips for, like, fun or whatevs. Mayra's findings? The 100 coats didn't leave her lips dry, but they did leave a thick, cakey layer that she actually had to peel off with a tool resembling a teeny tiny cake server.
  • Hard Candy is reportedly suing CoverGirl's parent company, Procter & Gamble, over CoverGirl's collaborative makeup line with Katy Perry. Little information is known as to why Hard Candy is suing, though TMZ says a heart emoji could be at the root of it all. [TMZ]
  • Makeup artist Paolo Ballesteros has been making himself up to look like Game of Thrones characters and the results are bananas. [Huffington Post]
  • A designer and Central Saint Martins student named Tina Gorjanc was somehow granted permission to use Alexander McQueen's actual DNA to grow skin in a lab for the purpose of making handbags and jackets. Yup, you read that right. Gorjanc doesn't plan to sell her creations (which, by the way, will have freckles, tattoos and moles), but she will showcase them in an exhibition. [Who What Wear]
