7 Things You Never Knew About Logan Browning

From before she Hit The Floor to now.

By Claire Downs

Lately, it seems like Logan Browning is everywhere. We loved her as Jelena Howard on VH1's Hit the Floor, and now she's set to star in Netflix's Dear White People coming out on April 24. Playing Samantha White, an outspoken, biracial student on a polarized college campus in the upcoming show will no doubt put Browning on the map. But how well do you know the actress outside of her time dancing with the fictional LA Devil Girls?

Check out this list below and learn something new about our favorite breakout star!

1. Her breakout role was acting alongside Zac Efron in the WB drama, Summerland

Logan played the recurring character, Carrie before the show was cancelled after only two seasons in 2005.

2. She's a doll, literally.

In 2007, Browning starred in Bratz: The Movie based on the popular dolls and even sang on the soundtrack.

3. Tyler Perry got her out of a rut

Fresh off her time on Summerland and Bratz, Logan had a hard time getting work, until Tyler Perry saved the day by offering her a part in his sitcom. According to Rolling Out, "Meet the Browns came upon my life when I was 19, and in L.A. by myself without a guardian. The writer’s strike had hit, and I didn’t work for a year. I booked Meet the Browns, and moved back to Atlanta."

4. She learned to dance for her role on Hit the Floor

In an interview with ESPN, Logan said, "The dancing on the show was a challenge. I was not a professional dancer. I trained in ballet, jazz and focused on my flexibility and cardio endurance. The challenge of going from zero dance training to playing the captain of a dance squad amongst real life professional dancers was fun for me."

5. She's as woke as her character in Dear White People.

Logan's Insta is filled with awesome mini-blogs about politics, female empowerment, and her experiences as a Black woman. According to Jet, Browning studied extensively for her role in Dear White People: "One of the best things I did to prepare for this role was reading! I read a lot of materials my character would have read, and in doing so, I also became more knowledgeable, which aided me in my social responsibilities."

6. Her faith plays a big role in her life.

Yes y'all, we took it to church! Thank you @sagaftra & @iamstevejones for inviting me to participate in the @hollywoodconfidential panel. I received. That's when you know it's a great moment. As a panelist, I received! Such beautiful energy tonight. I'm so grateful for the filling up of spirits through our candid conversation. A privilege to be on stage with @dawnlyen & @onetakestace who are such giving humans and overflowing sources of positivity. Get into it. At this year's SXSW, Browning participated in a Hollywood Confidential Panel hosted by Issa Rae and even took the audience to church by saying a blessing. In her prayer, she told the audience to "Stay faithful and listen."

While there's no word on a Bratz sequel coming out any time soon, it's dope to see that Logan stays true to the costars from her early days!
