It Takes a Great to Make a Great: Colin Kaepernick Will Honor His Mom at 'Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Moms'

The football star and activist owes a lot to his mom!

We already know that La La Anthony and Anthony Anderson are back and ready to bring the love to Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Moms, and now it's time to announce one of the celebs who will be showing his mom some serious love this Mother's Day: Colin Kaepernick.

There's a lot for Teresa Kaepernick to be proud of when it comes to her son. The professional quarterback is heavily involved with the community and works to fight oppression of all kinds globally through education and social activism.

He founded and fully funded the national Know Your Rights Camps to empower youth in their community and teach them various ways to interact with law enforcement as well as self-empowerment and motivation. He also recently completed his Million Dollar Pledge, where he donated $1,000,000 of his own money to 37 different organizations fighting toward social justice.

His activism has won him recognition and awards. In December 2017, Kaepernick received the Sports Illustrated Muhammad Ali Legacy Award (from Beyoncé, no less!), the ACLU’s Eason Monroe Courageous Advocate Award and The Puffin/Nation Institute’s Prize for Creative Citizenship. An award winning athlete and activist must have an mom deserving of many awards herself!

Tune in to Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Moms on Monday, May 7th at 9pm ET/PT.

The outspoken football star and social activist lays out the 10 points of his community outreach program to students in Harlem, New York.
