They Did: 16 Celebrity Couples Who Tied the Knot on Television

Here comes the...broadcast!

When it comes to celebrity weddings, if you're not family, a close friend (read: fellow celebrity), or a sneaky paparazzo, there's a good chance you're not going to get a glimpse of those glitzy nuptials. While most famous couples try to keep these private affairs (or, at least, only share photos with the highest bidder), some share their blessed event for all to see.

From the Royal Family, which maintains a tradition of getting married in front of the entire world, to reality TV stars registering for more screen time, these famous couples turned their special day into a television event. With wedding season in full lacy white swing all around, take a walk down the aisle that is memory lane with the stars who tied the knot on TV.

Lady Diana and Prince Charles

Arguably the most famous nuptials of all time; 750 million people worldwide watched the ceremony that wed Lady Diana to Prince Charles in 1981. Plenty of other royals have broadcast their weddings to the world (including Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson), but it's safe to say that these two—despite not having a storybook ending—still had the Wedding of the Century.

Prince William and Kate Middleton

If Lady Diana and Prince Charles had the wedding of the 20th century, then their eldest son, Prince William, may have had the wedding of the 21st century. His 2011 nuptials to Catherine Middleton, who wowed in an Alexander McQueen dress, was watched by millions around the world. Not only did the media-friendly event introduce the world to our beautiful new royal couple, but the ultimate MOH: Pippa Middleton.

Pedro Zamora and Sean Sasser

When The Real World: San Francisco star Pedro exchanged vows with his partner Sean in 1994 it was a landmark, pivotal moment in reality television and our culture. Until that point, a same-sex relationship, let alone a commitment ceremony, was something simply not seen on TV. While both HIV-positive educators and activists are tragically no longer with us, they left an indelible legacy behind.

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo

Nick was no stranger to sharing his love life with fans, as evidenced from appearing on one of the most popular reality shows ever, Newlyweds, which chronicled his marriage to Jessica Simpson back in 2002. When he found love again with Vanessa, the two appeared in the TLC docu-special Nick and Vanessa's Dream Wedding.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries

Reality TV fixture Kim's opulent 2011 wedding to Kris made for a two-part E! special entitled Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event. Combined, the episodes (which drew an estimated, record-breaking 10.5 million viewers) ran for roughly two hours, just a smidge under the couple's 72-day marriage.

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom

Of course, the Kardashians were no strangers to getting married on their home network. Kim's little sister Khloe married basketball star Lamar in 2009 after just three weeks of dating. Their episode, aptly titled "The Wedding," brought in 3.2 million viewers. Sadly, her broadcast nuptials didn't lead to a happy ending either.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt

The infamous Speidi met, and eventually married, on The Hills, during the Season 5 episode "Something Old, Something New" in 2009. The tabloid-friendly pair then continued to share their individual and marital woes with viewers on a series of other reality shows, including Marriage Boot Camp.

Yandy Smith and Mendeecees Harris

After eight years of dating, the Love & Hip Hop stars broadcast their wedding live on VH1 over Memorial Day weekend this year and with an impressive VIP guest list and hosts Nina Parker, Big Tigger, and Stevie J.

La La Vasquez and Carmelo Anthony

The TV host and the New York Knicks basketball star married back in 2010 and shared everything leading up to and including their big day in the six-episode VH1 series La La's Full Court Wedding. The newlyweds continued to share their journey on the reality series La La's Full Court Life.

Ryan Sutter and Trista Rehn

The reigning king and queen of reality TV couples, the respective stars of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette fell in love on TV and eventually got married on TV, during their very own 2003 spin-off Trista & Ryan's Wedding. The couple not only earned a reported $1 million for their ABC nuptials, but they also drew in a reported 17 million viewers.

Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney

Ryan and Trista weren't the only Bachelor alums to find true love: Jason Mesnick chose Molly Malaney to be his bride over former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Melissa Rycroft on the show's 13th season. The pair eventually married in 2013 and ABC aired their wedding during the two-hour special called The Bachelor: Jason and Molly's Wedding.

Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro

The actress/model and the rock star made a go of it back in 2003 and shared their wedding preparation, and their big day, with MTV viewers during the seven-episode series 'Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen and Dave. (Not quite death, sadly, just 'til 2006.)

Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich

Surviving (and winning) Survivor and The Amazing Race is one thing, but having a lasting, post-reality TV marriage is even more impressive. The couple (who met on Survivor) wed in front of the cameras back in 2005 for the CBS two-hour special Rob and Amber Get Married, and are still together. That's true survival.

Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett

Fans of the former Playboy model/Girl Next Door star and the football star know the couple have seen better days, namely when they got married back in 2009 at the Playboy Mansion and showed the nuptials on the Kendra episode "Let Them Eat Cake." Their marital ups and downs have since been chronicled on their latest series Kendra on Top.

Niecy Nash and Jay Tucker

Actress/comedian Niecy shared her walk down the aisle with electrical engineer Jay in the TLC series Niecy Nash's Wedding Bash back in 2011. Sadly, at least for Reno! 911 fans, there were no khaki booty shorts involved.

Lauri Waring and George Peterson

Lauri Waring lived up to her title of being a reality TV wife when she married real estate developer George Peterson in 2008 and showed the wedding during the Season 3 episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County, titled "Here Comes the Bride." Can't be a housewife without a ring, right?
