10 Fantasy Music Duets That Would Make Dreams Come True

By Christopher Rosa

There's nothing more exciting than seeing two of your favorite singers come together for a duet, and we've been lucky enough to experience some pretty fantastic ones. But we still can keep on dreaming, and the possibilities are endless with the amount of incredible artists out there. We decided to play musical matchmaker and dream up 10 collaborations that would make the world cry, rage and end all its problems. And yes, Beyoncé is involved.

From Britney Spears to Kanye West and even Harry Connick Jr. (that's right), some of these collaborations may cause you to scratch your head. But we encourage you to keep an open mind. As Madonna (who also makes our list) once said, "music makes the people come together."

Take a look at our fantasy collaborations and let us know what you think in the comments below. Do you have any dream duets? Share those too!

10. Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato

The two young divas were suppose to collaborate on the poptastic "You'll Never Know"  from Grande's debut album Yours Truly; however, it never panned out. We vote these ladies blend their out-of-this-world pipes and serve us a discofied anthem à la "The Boy Is Mine" (which was Grande's inspiration behind wanting to collaborate with Lovato in the first place).

9. Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj

Swift is heading in a more pop direction with her forthcoming album 1989, and we think a collaboration with Minaj would really compliment that sound. The "Anaconda" singer has a legacy of sending paint-by-numbers dance songs into outer space — she's worked her magic on Spears and Christina Aguilera  among others —  and we know she can do the same for Swift. A song called "23," perhaps?

8. Miley Cyrus and Kesha

Now, now, this isn't what you're thinking. We're not suggesting these two blend their "turn up" mentalities and concoct a boozy banger — quite the opposite, actually. Cryus and Kesha can both sing the pants off  country music, so we'd love to see them do something acoustic.

7. Lorde and Kanye West

We're big fans of West's 808s & Heartbreak album, and we think a collaboration with Lorde would bring back a similar addictive and icy sound — but with a little more soul.  West is a fan of the "Royals" singer, so we're sure he'd welcome a duet.

6. Michael Bublé and Harry Connick Jr

What would happen if these two smooth operators collaborated? All the moms in the world would rejoice, and this album would be everyone's stocking stuffer. "Thanks, mom! It's just what I wanted: Michael Bublé and Harry Connick Jr.'s holiday album." *Widens eyes*

5. Madonna and Kylie Minogue

We know these divas have mad respect for one another — Minogue said the "world would stop mid-orbit" if the two collaborated, and Madonna famously wore a "Kylie Minogue" shirt at a concert in 2000 — so a mega-pop union is definitely needed. We'd die to see these icons blend their wispy vocals over a euphoric techno beat. Shut down all the nightclubs.

4.  Iggy Azalea and Katy Perry

These two tried to collaborate in early 2013, but they couldn't hammer anything down — though it did spawn the amazing "Black Widow" with Rita Ora.  But it's time these two ladies made magic together and formulate something that will slay the Billboard charts (besides a "Dark Horse" remix). How about a marriage between "Work" and "This Is How We Do?" Yes, please.

3Ed Sheeran and Britney Spears

Alright, we know this sounds weird, but hear us out. After the disastrous Britney Jean,  Spears needs a new musical direction because vacant dance-pop is no longer working. Enter Sheeran, who could probably pull emotion out of a box of Frosted Flakes. He's just want Spears needs to deliver music that causes us to rage and feel the feels.

Plus, Sheeran already wants to collaborate with Brit Brit. During a Q&A at the #AmazonFrontRow event in London last week, he said, "Yeah. I mean she’s had consistent hits for a while, but I wouldn’t write ‘Work Bitch.’ “I’d go and do something a bit more like ‘Everytime.’ I’m a Britney fan! I’ve actually got the Greatest Hits – I cook to it.”

2. Coldplay and Skrillex

Another strange mash-up, but think about how epic it would be: Chris Martin's signature vocals and the band's killer acoustics merged with a sledgehammer Skrillex beat. It's bizarre, but also pretty badass. And the Internet seems to have the right idea (see above).

1. Beyoncé and Sam Smith

We're pretty sure the world would erupt into tears if these two even did one song. Queen B's penchant for delivering hits that pack both emotional and physical punches mixed with Smith's otherworldly voice  would garner a duet so epic that no other musical pairings could ever happen again. *Cries over the possibility.*
