American Hustle and Out of the Furnace star Christian Bale doesn't exactly have the reputation for being warm and fuzzy. Maybe it's because he so convincingly played Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, maybe it's because he famously went off on a crew member on Terminator: Salvation, or maybe it's just because he doesn't want the public to know what a really nice guy he is! Is Christian Bale secretly the nicest guy in Hollywood?

Christian Bale has always been tetchy about sharing details about his personal life. After all, he's one of the few movie stars in Hollywood who is more interested in being a great actor than being rich and famous. However, he's also one of the few stars who goes out of his way to reach out to fans on the down low.

In the past, Bale has taken a 4-year-old leukemia patient to Disneyland for the day and phoned a child suffering from cancer. Bale didn't know about San Francisco's recent ploy to transform Make-A-Wish patient Miles Scott into Batkid for the day until after it happened, but had nothing but enthusiasm for the project. And then there was the time that he stepped up and visited the victims of the Aurora shooting last year.

Christian Bale isn't just nice to his fans, though. When VH1 tried to grill the American Hustle cast on their co-star, Jennifer Lawrence, he gave one of the sweetest answers. "She floored me," he said.

So what do you think? Could Christian Bale be a hero in real life?
