Forget the Movies, Which YA Hero Could Actually Save the World?

They've started revolutions, fought unearthly beasts, and have been players in some pretty messed up games. From Maze Runner to The Hunger Games and Divergent, each of these stories' leading men and women kick total ass, and bring a little something different to the table while doing so. But who would you truly trust with your life and the future of mankind?

Is it better to have a charming Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) as a savior, or the brooding Four (Theo James)? Would a natural yet emotional leader like Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) be best-suited for the job, or should we put our faith in the fearless Thomas (Dylan O'Brien)? We're breaking down these YA heroes and heroines by their strongest merits and grading their ability to save us all on a scale from 1-5. So if the world is ever coming to an end, you'll know exactly who you should want in your corner. Take our poll at the end, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Peeta Mellark (The Hunger Games)

Ability to save the world: 2

Peeta is a loyal and loving friend, charming as all hell, and knows how to handle a paintbrush. He's ridiculously strong, but emotionally he could stand to man up a bit. Not to mention that he isn't the most savvy on the battlefield. Leave it to Katniss to swoop in and save his ass when in need.

Thomas (The Maze Runner)

Ability to save the world: 4

Thomas is a natural born leader, who is extremely brave and quick on his feet. But his curiosity, however, can lead to trouble. He often stumbles into adventure, acting impulsively without fully thinking things through. With this track record, it's possible he'd get himself and others around him stuck in a bind.

Tris (Divergent)

Ability to save the world: 4

Tris is a badass bitch. She's strong-willed and fearless, with an extremely tough exterior. While she hates showing weakness and avoids being vulnerable at all costs, she's also rash and a little selfish. Tris will face anything that comes her way, but she isn't truly a leader and doesn't always think about how her actions will affect loved ones and those around her.

Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games)

Ability to save the world: 4

Katniss is a devoted leader who marches to the beat of her own drum, regardless of the consequences. She's sick with a bow and arrow and is extremely courageous. She sometimes, however, lets her feelings get the best of her. It's admirable that her first priority is keeping her family and Peeta safe, but when a revolution is resting on your shoulders, you gotta think big picture, girl.

Four (Divergent)

Ability to save the world: 3

This brooding babe knows how to work a weapon and is a great fighter. The (somewhat) good news is, he has no attachments to family who would hold him back when it comes time to make big decisions. He is Tris. He's quiet, mysterious, and secludes himself from others, which can impede others' ability to trust him.

Gale Hawthorne (The Hunger Games)

Ability to save the world: 5

Gale doesn't take anyone's shit when it comes to actively striking against The Capitol and being a leading force in the revolution. He shows constant bravery and leadership, and is well aware of the repercussions that come with them. While his fight against evil trumps all other priorities, he has few shining moments of emotion that come from his love for Katniss. A combination that makes for the perfect hero every nation needs.

Who should you trust to have the world safely in their hands?

Gale Hawthorne

Look at the fire in those eyes. You think this man would give up fighting for the greater good and let down the entire human species? We think not. Not to mention he'd give you some sweet words on lovin' along the way.
