No need to wait for January 1st to make major life changes, goals and resolutions, just ask our VH1 talent. First Love & Hip Hop’s Lil Mo said she’s following her dreams to become an attorney after dropping her last music project in January. Then Love & Hip Hop Hollywood’s Ray J decided that he would go to college next semester to continue to build his music empire. Now Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’s Waka Flocka Flame has some news for fans that they possibly weren’t expecting: he’s retiring from rap. Well actually, he retired already.
In an interview on BET’s Raq Rants, Waka was asked when he was going to give up rapping and he coolly replied, “I been gave it up.” Wait, what? Where were we when this happened? Waka says he feels strong in his decision to walk away from music because he accomplished those goals and now it’s on to the next big thing.
“I did what I came to do. I made past $30 million. Everybody that I started with is rich. Everybody is happy. Everybody got kids. I don’t got nothing else to do. Everybody that didn’t make it or they got kids. My right hand man that was running the streets with me is a pastor!”
So what exactly is the next big project he wants to take on? Expanding his beautiful family.
In addition to working on his marriage, he’s ready to have a baby with his wife and give her daughter Charlie a brother or sister.
While it seems like he had a wild and fun ride during his rap career, he knows it’s time to move on. He’s even squashing longtime beefs, “people want me to be ’Hard in da Paint’ Waka, but I’m 32-years-old, I’m a grown a– man.”
Ok Waka, we see you and we’re excited for what is yet to come.
It’s been a wild ride of ups and downs for Waka and Tammy’s marriage over the years. Take a look at Tammy discuss the struggles of their union.
