Many celebrities have come to television but it’s not every day that a reality star gets an acting role and really nails it. VH1 just chatted with Karlie Redd this week about the stigma that often surrounds being a person from the reality genre and how you just need to do good work.

Everyone from Mob WivesBig Ang to Basketball Wives LA’s Draya Michele have been bitten by the acting bug. Even our homegirl K. Michelle returns to her theatrical roots August 19 with the premiere of her show K. Michelle The Rebellious Soul Musical.

The Love & Hip Hop star has become a major success in the music industry since making her reality debut on the first season of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. Now the ever-changing chanteuse makes her acting debut in her own musical. K. Michelle The Rebellious Soul Musical premieres Tuesday at 10 PM ET/PT.

The Basketball Wives’ star did some acting after her appearance on The Real World. Tami has gone on to be a series regular on Belle’s and most recently appeared alongside Halle Berry in Extant.


Not exactly showing her range but Mob Wives’ Big Ang made her big screen debut playing a fighting housewife in Scary Movie 5.


Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’s Karlie Redd famously made her acting debut as Karlie Lewis on VH1’s reality competition Scream Queens.


The I Love New York and Flavor Of Love breakout star made the foray into acting playing an exaggerated version of herself on Nip/Tuck.


Much like Big Ang, Basketball Wives LA’s Draya Michele sunk her teeth into a role not totally unlike herself. Well, actually, she played herself on Kevin Hart’s Real Husbands Of Hollywood.

Jim Jones’ dramatic mother (as seen on Chrissy & Mr. Jones) and Mob Wives’ Rizzo will both make their acting debut in Terrance Tykeem’s Touched about sexual abuse. Check out the trailer to see Ramona smoking a cig, intently and Momma Jones putting her maternal side to use as an actress.


The Full Court Life star has been pursuing an acting career for years now and has found some mainstream success in the Think Like A Man films but if you want to see a different (crazier) side of La, check out this short she did with Funny or Die.
