We Have the Receipts to Prove These Celebrity Rivals Were Once Cool
Celebrity friendships are fickle AF. One second, two people love each other. The next, it's Daggers City. When celebrities are in "enemy mode" with another star, it's interesting--and a tad ironic--to look back at the happier times the two shared. And that's easy in 2016, because literally everything is caught on tape.
Like the time Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian--now kitschy frenemies--gave Hilton's dog a pregnancy test. Or when pop rivals Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera held hands at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. If any of these five pairs try to say they've been enemies forever, they're lying. We have the receipts to prove otherwise.
Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag
They were The Hills' golden duo for two seasons--until Montag and boyfriend Spencer Pratt allegedly started a rumor Conrad had a sex tape. Then, they crumbled...and The Hills got way more interesting. From alcohol-fused encounters at nightclubs to dramatic apartment sit-downs, Montag and Conrad's journey from friends to fangs is well-documented. But let's remember a lighter time, shall we? Like this 2006 clip of Conrad and Montag showing off their then-new apartment. Little did they know what was ahead of them...
Kanye West and Taylor Swift
From enemies...to friends...to enemies. West and Swift's bad blood started when the rapper infamously took the microphone from TayTay's hand at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. The two seemingly "made up" at the same show six years later; Swift presented the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award to West and even called him her "friend." But that was short-lived. West dissed Swift in his 2016 song "Famous," and the pop star clapped back at the 2016 Grammy Awards. Even still, we will forever cherish the brief moment these mortal enemies put down their weapons and hugged.
Bethenny Frankel and Jill Zarin
Once upon a time, Frankel and Zarin were the Laverne & Shirley of The Real Housewives of New York City. But at the beginning of season three, Frankel told Zarin to get a "hobby," and an ice war began. It was fun to watch B and J fight, but we long for the simpler days, like when they checked out New York City's Hudson Terrace for a charity event. Their biggest argument was over risotto.
Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera
BritBrit and X-Tina were young co-stars on The New Mickey Mouse Club and shared a brief moment of solidarity at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, but soon the media painted the two pop princesses as bitter rivals. Neither girls have confirmed a definitive hatred, but they've each shaded each other on multiple occasions. (X-Tina even called Brit a "sad lost little girl.") But let's focus on that iconic VMAs moment. Belly-baring dress realness!
Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton
Pre-Instagram, Kardashian had a closet-organizing business, and Hilton was one of her clients. According to Kardashian, their friendship abruptly ended when the two just stopped talking one day. Hilton later said there never was a feud between the two, which contradicts the time she joked Kardashian's butt looked like "cottage cheese inside a big trash bag." We hope these two have really buried the hatchet, but even if they haven't, relive the time the two gave Hilton's dog a pregnancy test at her house. #SquadGoals
Ceaser and Puma
Get More:
Ceaser and Puma's volatile friendship is well-documented on Black Ink Crew, and as of now, the two aren't exactly on the greatest terms. However, we long for the days when these two tattoo competitors were friends, like the time they dapped and made up at Puma's bachelor party in Atlantic City. Why can't this happen again?
