Caitlyn Jenner's ESPYS Speech Will Make You Cry (Then Scream YAAAS!!!)

The former Olympian made her first live TV appearance since transitioning Wednesday night.

Caitlyn Jenner made her first televised debut since transitioning at the 2015 ESPYS Wednesday night to accept the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. And it was everything you could've wanted and more.

After an emotional opening speech from U.S. women's soccer player Abby Wambach and a video recapping the former Olympian's life—"[The world] knew nothing about me," Caitlyn said in the clip—Caitlyn hit the stage, and she looked fantastic. Wearing a beautiful white dress, with hair swooped to the side, she was the picture of Hollywood glam.

But we all know she looks beautiful. More importantly, though, is what she said. During her moving speech, she brought awareness to violence against transgender youth and promoted tolerance for everyone. Check out her most powerful quotes from the speech:

  • On transgender youth: "All across the world, at this very moment, there are young people coming to terms with being transgender. They're getting bullied. They're getting beaten up. They're getting murdered. And they're committing suicide."
  • On how she's using her fame to promote change: "With attention comes responsibility...How you conduct your lives: What you say...what you do is absorbed by millions of people. Especially young people."
  • The main idea she wants to support: "...[accept] people for who they are."
  • On how to see change in the world: "We start with education. Learn as much as you can."
  • On what trans people need most: "Trans people deserve something vital: They deserve your respect. And from that respect comes a more passionate community...and a better world for all of us. We have come a long way. But we have a lot of work to do."
  • On her children: "I always wanted my children to be so proud of their dad. You guys give me so much support. I am so, so grateful to have all of you in my life. Thank you."
  • On her mother: "I think I got all of [my courage] from you."
  • On getting bullied in the press: "If you want to call me names...go ahead...but for the thousands of kids out there coming to terms with who they are, they shouldn't have to take it."
  • On diversity: "It's not just about me. It's about all of us accepting one another. We're all different. That's not a bad thing. That's a good thing."
