The Most Sexist Things Donald Trump Has Said About Hillary Clinton (So Far)
Going into this ridiculous election, we already knew Donald Trump had a complicated history with sexism. At Monday night's debate, many of Trump's words came back to haunt him. He was reminded of when he criticized his employees, pageant queens, and even Rosie O'Donell. He was also reminded of when he said Hillary didn't have a presidential look. He denied saying this. Of course, this was a lie.
Being a sexist is one of the many reasons voters are leery downright scared to death at the thought of the real estate mogul setting up shop in the White House. In his pursuit of the presidency, Trump has not shied away from throwing low blows and insults at Hillary Clinton. Here are the most sexist things Trump has said about her so far.
She's just not strong enough.
Trump has thrown out a series of attacks implying that Clinton is weak or ill. These insults have subtly crept into the realm of attacking Clinton's general strength and composure after critiquing particular illnesses. Even Trump knows that sexism is most effective when you can later deny it.
Women using the bathroom is just TMI for Trump.
After Clinton took a mid-debate bathroom break, Trump acted as though he was deeply appalled by the idea that women use the bathroom. "I know where she went, it's disgusting, I don't want to talk about it...No, it's too disgusting. Don't say it, it's disgusting."
The great "schlonged" debate.
Trump pulled the word "schlonged" out of nowhere, dusting it off from Yiddish obscurity, because he wanted to indicate being beaten badly, and he just had to do it with a synonym for penis.
Donald Trump even manages to be sexist when he is arguing that he isn't sexist.
He speaks about women as though they need his approval and tells her to "be careful" as though he's admonishing a pupil or daughter.
A classic trick that Trump likes to pull is retweeting the most sexist quote tweets he can.
He can say things without actually "saying" them. Of course, no one is falling for it, but that won't stop him from trying.
Donald Trump does not think the former Secretary of State who took on ISIS has the mental stamina to take on ISIS.
“To defeat crime and radical Islamic terrorism in our country, to win trade in our country, you need tremendous physical and mental strength and stamina. Hillary Clinton doesn’t have that strength and stamina.”
"If she were a man, I don't think she'd get 5% of the vote."
Trump made a number of heinous comments during his "woman card" tirade last spring. This was only one of the most insulting comments he made. When Clinton challenged him on his words, he responded glibly, "“I haven’t quite recovered, it’s early in the morning, from her shouting that message."
She's an amazing enabler.
In a classic chauvinist move, Trump blamed Bill Clinton's infidelities on Hillary, calling her an "enabler."
Is he blaming her or not?
Not only is this a lie, but the oldest sexist trick in the book is using the husband to criticize the wife, as though she isn't her own person.
But what about female intuition Donald?!
"Bad judgement and instincts?" He might as well have criticized Hillary's driving.
He really let's loose on that "monster" Hillary.
In this speech, Trump also called Clinton "weak." He might as well have accused her of being unable to govern during "that time of the month."
“I just don’t think she has a presidential look.”
This comment came after Trump said, "Does she look presidential, fellas? Give me a break.” a comment that sounds more at home at some divey sports bar than on the campaign trail. When Trump talks about her "look" we know he means her gender.
