Is it Sexist for Sean Lowe to Let His Future Son Join 'The Bachelor,' but Not His Daughter?
Virgin bachelor Sean Lowe got his V-card swiped and a fairy tale ending with Catherine Giudice after starring on The Bachelor last year. Their perfect TV wedding and lovey-dovey social media posts are enough to make single girls everywhere simultaneously love and hate the world. However, Lowe insists that his future daughter would never be allowed on the reality show. But his son? "Maybe." Is anyone else giving side eye right now?
"I don't think so," says Lowe in the latest issue of InTouch. "My daughter is not making out with a bunch of dudes on TV. I know I sound like a giant hypocrite, but I don't want her walking through a minefield. A son, maybe. A daughter, no way."
At first, I thought this was a sweet gesture by a man wanting to protect his future daughter. You know any dad, uncle, or brother would go apeshit watching their little girl get pawed on on national TV. (My dad almost got the baseball bat out when my first date brought me home late, so I can't even imagine what he'd be like watching me date on national TV.) But it's sexist to think a woman couldn't hold her own on the show the same way a man could - or shouldn't be on the show at all, because she's a woman. I understand what he's getting at, but, no. Besides, isn't The Bachelor where he met his wife?
