Ashton Kutcher Outdoes Every Mother's Day Gift in History by Renovating His Childhood Home for His Mom

Ashton Kutcher is the new love of your life (if he wasn't already). The actor recently renovated his childhood home in Homestead, Iowa as a surprise gift for his mom Diane. "No matter where you go in the world or what you see, or what you do, when you think of the word 'home,' you're drawn to a specific place in your mind," he said on Houzz.com's My Houzz. "At the end of the day, it's my way of saying 'thank you' to my mom," he explained. "My mom has been the greatest influence in my life. My parents gave me everything. They went to great sacrifices to give me the life that I have and anything that I can do to say thank you is the right thing to do."

Ashton and his stepdad Mark secretly began renovating the place while Diane was in L.A. helping with newborn baby Wyatt to give it a contemporary, rustic vibe. They've tailored the remodeling to meet her specific needs, like a living room layout suitable for her antiques, and a canning room to store her homemade salsa.

Ashton helped Mark build the house from scratch when was 13, and still considers it "the perfect home" even though they've outgrown the space. "What we're going to try to do is really retro-fit the space to how my parents live now and how they're gonna be living with grandkids running around," he explained.
