Andrew Lincoln Has A Lot Of Questions About 'The Walking Dead', Says The Show Is All About Carl

It's safe to say that Andrew Lincoln (who plays Rick Grimes) is excited about the new season of The Walking Dead. The show's lead actor says that the first couple episodes are some of the best episodes of the series. But what he's most interested in is the theme.

"I think the theme can be expressed in a question: Can we ever come back?" says Lincoln. "Can we ever come back from the things that we've seen, the traumas that we've been through? Can we ever be the people we once were? Can we continue? Can we rebuild civilization?"

Whoa, that's a lot of questions.

"I think that's a beautiful thing that's interwoven through all the characters and story lines," he continues.

But what about Carl? Will someone actually keep track of him this season?

"That is directly addressed," says Lincoln. "[This season is about] the story of a boy becoming a man and a father accepting that."

That's right, this season is all about the little dude with the hat! Looks like all the Carl-haters better get on board.

"I think this is his biggest season," Lincoln says of Chandler Riggs. "He's an astonishing young actor. He's really pushed this season. Just wait! just wait!"

The new season of The Walking Dead premieres on Sunday, October 13 at 9/8 c on AMC.
