Dave Grohl Invites His Leg Doctor To Perform "Seven Nation Army" During The Foo Fighters' Fenway Set
Tales of Dave Grohl's kindness are legendary, and it's almost kind of boring at this point. We get it, Dave—you're the nicest guy in rock, if not the entire universe! But this weekend he went above and beyond by inviting his orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Lew Schon, to appear onstage and perform with the Foo Fighters at Boston's Fenway Park.
"My orthopedic doctor is here tonight,” Dave told the packed crowd on Saturday, still nursing his broken leg following a nasty mid-show fall which threatened to derail the band's summer tour. “He's the man that made it possible for me to get onstage and play a show tonight. Now, he came to my hotel room today and he f–king checked out my leg and he said, ‘You can rock Fenway tonight’ and I said, ‘Lew, so can you.’”
Those expecting a mild-mannered doc were in for the shock of their life, as Lew appeared to delight in the spotlight, delivering a pretty killer version of the White Stripes' classic, "Seven Nation Army." We gotta say, his voice is well-suited to rock. “Holy s–t, that’s actually my doctor," Dave marveled when it was over. "What a badass!”
