UPDATE: Meryl Streep just received her 19th Academy Award nomination, because she's a boss bitch.

Meryl Streep is the greatest actress who has ever lived. No, we're not arguing about it. She simply is. Streep has been nominated for 18 Academy Awards (including her nomination this year for Best Actress for her work in August: Osage County) and has taken the award home thrice. She can play anything from a terrifying matriarch to the steely Prime Minister of Great Britain and make us believe it. Where does her power come from? Well, it doesn't hurt that Meryl Streep is a total boss bitch in real life.

Meryl Streep might be 64 years old, but she's not some sweet old lady. She'll be the height of class on your talk show, while explaining that she would gladly kill Dustin Hoffman and sleep with Jack Nicholson. She hung out with 50 Cent at Madison Square Garden last month, made out with Sandra Bullock in front of everyone in 2010 and confidently adjusted her wedgie during the 2013 Academy Awards. Meryl Streep simply won't quit.

Perhaps Streep can best be defined by something she said in her endlessly entertaining 2007 Golden Globes acceptance speech: "It's amazing what you can get when you quietly, clearly and authoritatively demand it."

By the way, in 2007 Streep beat out Beyoncé for the Golden Globe. MERYL STREEP BEAT BEYONCÉ.
